Somatic Experiencing®

What is Somatic Experiencing®?
Somatic Experiencing® refers to physical experience and perception.
It is a method for integrating trauma and restoring the regulation of the nervous system.
Dr. Peter Levine is the founder of the method.
What are the possible goals of Somatic Experiencing®?
The goal is to release the energy that was frozen during the trauma and get it flowing again.
This makes it available again for shaping our lives.
The body is involved in this process.
Regaining access to spontaneous, authentic actions plays a major role.
What can Somatic Experiencing® involve?
Trauma causes us to repeat the same patterns.
Trauma integration means that we “rewrite” the story.
We can become more flexible again in our reactions to life events.
“Rewriting the story” takes place through perceiving bodily sensations.
This allows us to determine where the energy is frozen and get it flowing again.
The process is initially about creating a sense of security and connecting with resources.
What can Somatic Experiencing® make possible?
I can access suppressed feelings, release them, and thereby rediscover my own original strength.
I am becoming more familiar with my issues and can deal with triggers in everyday life more consciously.
This helps me learn to communicate openly and constructively in relationships.
This also applies to relationships between humans and horses.
I can live more in the here and now and less in the past or future.

I will complete my Somatic Experiencing® training in December 2025.
